Reno Post-Mitigation Radon Testing
Post-Mitigation Radon Testing in Reno, NV
Installing a radon mitigation system is only half the job — the only way to know it actually worked is to test again after it’s running. Post-mitigation testing, sometimes called confirmation testing or follow-up testing, verifies that your finished system brought radon levels below the EPA’s 4.0 pCi/L action level, and it’s standard practice with every installation we complete.
When Post-Mitigation Testing Happens
Following EPA protocol, we place a testing device no sooner than 24 hours after the mitigation fan has been running continuously, and typically leave it in place for a short-term testing window similar to an initial test. Testing too early can produce a misleading reading — so timing matters as much as the test itself.
What the Results Tell You
If your post-mitigation test comes back below the action level, you have documented proof the radon remediation worked. If a result still comes back elevated, it doesn’t necessarily mean a full system replacement — often it means an adjustment to fan strength, an additional suction point, or sealing an overlooked gap in the foundation. We stand behind our installs and will return to make those adjustments and retest until the numbers confirm the fix.
Documentation for Real Estate & Records
Buyers, sellers, and lenders involved in a Reno or Sparks home sale often need documented confirmation that a radon mitigation system is functioning correctly, not just that one was installed at some point. We provide a written post-installation report showing the before-and-after numbers, which can be included with closing paperwork or kept for your own records.
Whether you had your system installed by us or are looking for confirmation testing on an existing radon reduction system installed by someone else, our radon technicians can run this test and provide documentation either way. We serve homeowners throughout Reno, Sparks, Verdi, Spanish Springs, and Cold Springs.
Why We Don’t Skip This Step
It’s tempting to assume a mitigation system is working just because the fan is running, but airflow alone doesn’t confirm the actual radon number came down. Building post-mitigation testing into every install, rather than treating it as an optional add-on, is how we catch those issues before you’re relying on a system that isn’t actually protecting your home.
This kind of follow-through is what our radon mitigation company builds every install around.
